hi everyone, easter is nearing on us and i wanted to do some easter egg decoration. so this is the final result. we are going to decorate 9 eggs today. we are going to use dudley's eggceptionaldecorating kit, a deco tape and some glitter glue. so let's get started. today, we are going to create our easter eggsusing dudley's eggceptional decorating kit. it has 120 stickers, 3 wrappits, 7 egg stands,6 color tablets, 1 egg dipper, 4 egg-chievement
awards and 1 magic crayon.and the best parti got it for only a dollar at walmart. i also have dudley's coloring cup and basicallythese are cups so we can dip our eggs into it. it also has coloring tablets, but we willsave those for later. and i also have these plastic eggs for $2,because real eggs break and they get spoiled eventually. these are unbreakable and act just like realeggs, just better. so i'm going to open up the decorating kit. we have stickers, egg stands, crayon, dipper, instruction sheet, 6 coloring tablets, and
some egg wrappits. the colors are red, blue, orange, yellow, purple, blue. all 120 of them. so we can display out eggs at the end so we get fish out our eggs from the cupsafter it's done coloring. i'm going to fast forward some parts of thisvideo, because it took me about 4 hours from start to finish and i don't think making 4hour video is a good idea. these tablets look like vitamin pills butof course it's not. it says it's non toxic but let's not eat itno matter how good it looks.
the tablet is slowly dissolving and it almostlooks like it's good enough to be a popsicle if i put some sugar and freeze it. this looks like water, but it's not. it's acetic acid in its mild form otherwiseknown as vinegar. i'm guessing we are putting vinegar so tomake the egg shell more susceptible absorbing the dye. all of my eggs and get them to roll aroundin the cups so we get even distribution of the food coloring on our egg shells. look at these brilliant colors.
but out of these colors, the purple seemsto be the most brillinat of them all. and yellow seems a little weak. we have 120 stickers. i mean that is a lot of stickers, even thoughit doesn't seem like it. these stickers have pictures of suns, rabbits, ducks, worms, flowers, butterflies and eggs and other random pictures that represent easterand spring. and they look good on these eggs. it's creating a lot of residue and i thinkthis crayon is too small for my hands. but no matter, we'll make do with this.
i put some paper towels on my table, so mytable doesn't get dirty from all the food coloring. and we are going to put some coloring cupson the table. i have 6 coloring tablets, but i only have5 cups, so i went and got another glass bowl to hold the extra color. we are going to drop these tablets into eachcup and then put some water. the instruction says put 1/2 cup of warm water, so i went and got a measuring cup, boiled some water, let itcool and now i'm measuring 1/2 cup of water and putting them into each cup.
hahaha. it already looks good, but the instructionsays i need to put 3 tablespoons of vinegar into each color except for pink. so i went and got some plain white vinegar, dragged out my half melted tablespoon and i'm mixing in some vinegar into each color. now it's time to dunk our eggs into each color. so dip, dip, dip, du du dud, and then we'll just roll it around so we geteven coverage. du du du.
while the eggs are being dyed, i want to goand create our egg stands. so i just need to cut out these perforatedarea, and then we have our egg drying rack. so now that our eggs dyed into each respectivecolor, i'm going to fish them out of the cups and then put them onto the drying rack. so while the eggs are being dryed, i wantto try these egg wrappits. the instruction says, just put the egg insidethese plastic ribbons and then submerge them into hot boiling water. so i thought these ribbons seemed a littletoo big for the egg, but it turned out alright. because when i put them into hot water, itshrinks, so it was alright.
so while offscreen, i went to the kitchenand boiled some really hot water and i also brought another glass bowl to put the hotwater. so i'm pouring in some hot water. adn you can see the steam coming from thewater. hahahah. yeah, it's hot. ok, the steam is not relaly captured in camera, but it's really hot. the instruction said boiling water, so i wantedto make it really hot. so now i'm dropping the wrappits into thewater and it's shrinking.
yeah, like this ribbon shrinks and it clingsto the egg. so this is actually quite exciting, watchingchemistry at work. it's shrinking without creating any dips orfolds, so i'm curious what kind of material this wrappits are made of. because i think this is so cool. hahaha ok. that was so cool, i'm going to do that again, and i'm not fast forwarding this part, because i think this is actually kind of cool.
so here goes another egg. i'm going to have to roll it around the hotwater so it gets even coverage. roll it around, roll it around. it looks like it's done, but i'm going tokeep it in hot water just in case the chemical reaction isn't over yet. or whatever magical process that makes itdo this. it's so coool. did i mention it's so cool. alright, onto the final egg wrappit.
i can't believe we only have three egg wrappitsin this package. i'm wondering if i can't make these wrappitsmyself with my own design, because this makes the egg decoration so easy. this wrappits is creating a bit of a foldat the top and bottom, i'm wondering if that's because the water is cooling down. but i think i just have to roll it aroundsome more and it will shrink to the shape of the egg. and there it is again, another beautifullydecorated egg with nothing more than some hot water.
next i want to dip these wrappit eggs intosome coloring dyes, because i think we can make these eggs even more interesting. so i put one egg into purple, another oneinto pink and antoher one into green. i left it in the coloring cups for about 10minutes and then i fished them out of the cups and then put them onto the drying rackfor it to dry. i i'm wiping out access dye on the wrappits, because i want to make sure the dyes don't dry on the wrappits and create water marks. now that all my eggs are dyed, i want to putsome stickers and do some decorations.
ahhhh!!! so i'm gonig to take this egg and put as manystickers as i possibly can without making it look too cluttered. and then do the same thing againfor the nextegg, but this time i'll put the stickers kind of randomly all over the egg. the kit comes with a crayon. i think they should've called it a wax stick, because this doesn't have any pigments. it's just a stick of wax. i bet you can light this wax stick like acandle, but anyway , i diverge.
i don't know what i want to do with this, but i thought maybe i'll write happy easter and then put some swirly border around it. maybe draw some stars all over. hahahaha. this actually looks more difficult than itlooks, because the egg is not an even surface. so...forgive me if looks horrible. and then finally, dip it into the coloring cup. the idea behind the crayon is that whereveri put the crayon mark will not get dyed, so you can see my drawings kind of staying inlight blue while rest of the eggs turn to
pink. ahhhha. my egg! my egg. dip it back into the cup. no big deal. just a splash of food coloring all over mypaper towel. i'm going to attemtp to take it out of thecup and place it into my drying rack without dropping it all over my table.
i don't want to touch the egg, because whereveri tough, it leaves behind a slight white spot and sometimes my finger print on the egg. and i'm not about to turn my eggs into fingerprinting station. so there is our intermediate result of oureggs. so next, we still have two eggs that are notdecorated yet, and i thought i want to try something different today. i'm going to wrap it around a masking tape, dip it into the dye again and see what happens. i'm hoping for a stripes of colors, but i'mnot sure what will happen. technically, these should be done using maskingfluid, but i don't have masking fluid right
now, so i thought masking tape might be aninteresting try. so i put that one into green cup and we'lllet it sit there until it dyes. in the meantime, i want to try similar thingsto this egg, but this time, i'm going to put not only one layer of stripes, but actuallyput another layer of tape on top of it. because i'm afraid the food coloring willeventually sip into the tape. so let's see what happens. i'm going to put this egg into purple andthen let it sit there for a while until it dyes into purple. i waited for about 5 minuets and then i fishedthem out of the cup and now i put them on
the drying rack. we'll open it and see what happened once itdried. so next, i noticed that i have this purpleegg that isn't decorated. so i thought maybe i want to try dinosauregg. put some white spots all over. so i cut out some white circlish stickersand i'm putting them all over the egg kind of randomly. but that still looks a little too plain, soi'm going to dip it into blue dye and let the sticker dye into blue.
i hope i made the right choice here, but anyway,it's dipped into the blue cup. we are going to get blue dots now. so what do you think? does blue dot look better than the white dot? i'm not sure. we'll decorate it further once it dries. so finally onto my mysterious masking tapeexperiment. i'm going to unwrap it and see what happenedto my egg. '
so it's not what i thought would be. so it's still not try, but green dye completelysipped into the egg and now i'just have almost plain green egg. masking tape doesn't work like masking fluid. but anyway, i see a hint of yellow in bitsand places. but hmmmmm....i don't know whati'm going todo. should i just leave it like this? or change it into another pattern? or i'm not sure.
well even before we open up this egg, i thinkwe kind of know what happened. purple probably sipped into the egg and weprobably have a lot of purple floating around the egg. but this egg had two layers of tapes,so we might get something interesting. ohhhhh, we acutally did get some interestingpatterns here. it's like we have a mix of purple and blueand yellow and i don't know. it's just an interesting pattern. i think i'm definitely giong to keep thisegg like this. i think this one is a surprising success. i think i'm going to keep this pattern asa background and then put some stickers or
something on top of it later. since the masking tape idea failed, i wantto try something else, so i'm going to dip three more eggs into the coloring cup andlet it sit there while i decorate rest of the eggs. so we have this weird crayong exercise thatwe attempted on this egg, but i don't like how it looks. it looks too plain. we need to save this egg somehow. we need to save this egg!!!
so i'm going to put some stickers around itand see if putting some more random colors to the egg will help rescue this egg. oh boy, i don't think that did anything. i'm not sure if i actually made it worse. the sticker doesn't really stick because thewax slash the crayon marks are too slippery. next, it's time to take out some glitter glueand dazzle up the egg. because when in doubt, put some glitters. my motto in life. or at least, now it is.
i got these crayola glitter glues for justa few bucks at walmart, so really, i'm not using any professional tools here. so let's put some swirly pattern all overthe egg. i'm going to put some dots all over this eggwith green glitter glue. lalalal. and also put some gitter glue all over thisegg too. i'm going to put some circles with glitterglue. clear, then red, and yellow and then red again. these glitters look almost delicious enoughthat the glitter topping looks almost edible.
i'm going to create a border around the eggwith glitter dots. putting some purple, then yellow, then red. and on this one, i'm going to put a web ontop with yellow, red and green. finally, remember that botched masking tapeexperiment that turned out into a plane green egg, well, i feel the need to put stripeson that egg. i will have my stripes. so i'm going to put some deco tapes aroundit. i have this polka dot deco tape and i'll wrapit around the egg and get my stripesl hahaha. and of course ,we will have to put some glitterson this egg too.
so i'm going to put some clear glitters andput some more green glitters. so i'm continuing to put the decorate tapearound rest of the eggs. this dinosaur egg looks kind of plane compareto other eggs, so it's time to put some glitter on this egg too. it's going to be a shiny dinosaur spotty egg. ahhh. glitter glue is getting on all overfingers. now what do we do with this egg? why does this egg look so plane compare totoher eggs. it's like i don't know what to do.
so i'm going to take out my red marker andjust start drawing something on it. i'll outline the letters, so it's a littlemore visible. and just outline the crayon marks with myred marker. oh no, this marker is getting dried too. i'm gong to have to put red marker on my shoppinglist. that still doesn't look right. i mean this egg never looked right. now, with ugly handwriting, it's worse. but no fear.
there is always a way to save botched project. we'll put some borders around it and outlinethe stars.... maybe. we'll make this work. thta still doesn't look right. it's time for glitter glue to rescue thisegg. i don't know if we can rescue this egg withglitter glue, but we have to try. besides every egg will get the glitter gluetreatment. so this egg will get the same glitter gluetreatment. bleh.
ok. let's leave that egg like that. i get the feeling i'm going to make it worsefrom here on. hahaha. so there is this one final egg that is screamingto decoration, so we are going to put some stickers and put some glitter glues. there. done. my inner critic is screaming inside of mesaying, oh my goodness, we need to do something more, but that is usually the best place tostop.
because there is such thing is over doingsomething. and i always over do stuffs. so this is time to finish. we have these egg stands, so we are goingto make egg stands and put the eggs on them and let the glue dry. here are 9 easter eggs decorated with dudley'scoloring tablets, egg wrappits, deco tape, glitter glue and a marker. i hope you liked it and happy easter everyone.
